One of my favorite things to do when we visit California is to go out for sushi.
My favorite place that we’ve gone to is called Sushi Sumo. It’s a sit down restaurant in Gardena, with reasonably priced food, delicious sushi, and a fun atmosphere.
The majority of the seats in the restaurant are positioned around a rotating belt at a counter. On the inside of the counter are the sushi chefs, who prepare rolls and place them on the belt, so you are constantly getting fresh sushi, and you can watch them make the rolls. I love this approach because you can see what the rolls look like before you actually eat them.
The plates here are different colors, and you pay based on the color of the plate. The plates they usually put out range from $1.99 to $5.99, and then you can special order more exotic ones for more money. Each plate generally has 2-6 pieces of sushi, depending on the type.
They have other options, besides sushi, including cucumber salad, potstickers, fried oysters, sesame chicken, breaded fish, and many others.
Sushi Sumo is located at 1831 W Redondo Beach Blvd, Gardena, CA 90247. They are open from 11:30-2:30pm Monday-Saturday, 5-10pm Monday-Thursday, 5-11pm Fridays, and 5-10:30pm Saturday.
Next time you are in Southern California, make sure and check it out!
